The Desert Safari is open to ALL 4x4 vehicles, offering a challenging the novice and experienced driver. The trails for this event will test the endurance of a stock or highly modified vehicle. There will be over $100,000.00 in prizes, over 80 vendors, food, live music and fun for the whole family. Since 1964, the club has been organizing this event in support of the off-roading communities. This year, the Desert Safari once again returns to the Truckhaven Hills. This location is in the Northern area of the Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area 23 miles east from Christmas Circle (Borrego Springs) on S-22 or 3.0 miles west of state highway 86. The exact GPS coordinates are N 33 15.691 W 116 00.857. The run starts on Saturday leaving base camp promptly at 8:00 am for a trip through sandy washes, rocky canyons and scenic ridges. Easier routes will be marked 'Green' to by-pass some of the harder/steeper trails. Sunday there will be a GPS Safari Run and a Rough Run both starting at 8:00 am. To register you must have a valid drivers license and insurance. You can register on line at www.tdsdesertsafari.com or on-site beginning Friday from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm with registration reopening at 6:30 am on Saturday. Registrations postmarked by February 16th are $50.00 and on-site registrations are $60.00. We'll see you there.
